Meet The Founder

Caren Robinson

Caren Robinson brings a rare combination of lived experience, professional expertise, and systems-level understanding to her work. Having navigated both caregiving and receiving care, she understands the complexities of healthcare, recovery, disability, and life transitions from multiple perspectives. As a community health advocate, healthcare navigation consultant, trauma-informed and public health educator, certified life coach, and public speaker, she is dedicated to helping individuals and organizations navigate challenges with clarity, confidence, and compassion.

Caren is the owner and founder of this site, Vital Ability; HOPE TBI (a site bringing awareness to and providing education about topics associated with brain injury and polytrauma); and Digivize Pro (a digital services website). Through her advocacy work, educational efforts, blogging, and public outreach, she has connected with individuals and communities both nationally and internationally.

Her work integrates solution-oriented, holistic, and results-focused coaching with advocacy, education, and personalized support to empower individuals, professionals, and organizations navigate meaningful personal and professional growth, strengthen resilience, overcome barriers, and create meaningful, sustainable change aligned with their values, goals, health, and purpose.

She has successfully earned training as a certified transformational life coach and a certified holistic life, career, and executive coach. Her training incorporates various holistic coaching techniques (including brain-based, ontological, emotional intelligence (EQ), health & wellness, mindfulness, positive psychology, and traditional coaching). She has completed 125 hours through Goal ImageryⓇ Institute, International School of Coaching Mastery™, and 60 hours through The Coach Training Academy, along with extensive practical application experience.

She is an active member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), the International Coach Federation of Michigan, and a member of the Certified Coaches Alliance. She has also completed coursework towards her PCC pathway and continues working toward the additional coaching hours required for PCC certification through the ICF.

Caren has been featured in numerous publications, such as NASCON and Picking Up The Pieces. She also volunteered for 6 years as a monthly co-host on an international brain injury radio program, “Recovery Now,” and is currently developing an expanded audio series through HOPE TBI.

Caren continues to bring awareness to various topics through primarily virtual courses, workshops, webinars, and educational initiatives while drawing from both professional and lived experience. Her passion is helping others ease into feeling informed, empowered, supported, and encouraged as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. She also maintains memberships and volunteer involvement with several local and national organizations.

Throughout her career, Caren has accumulated extensive experience as a healthcare provider, educator, trainer, advocate, and community support professional. She has worked and volunteered within emergency medical services (EMS), healthcare environments, domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy, social services, education, customer service, and nonprofit organizations. Her professional journey has primarily centered around grassroots and mission-driven organizations, where she has served in leadership, management, educational, advocacy, and training roles.

Caren is married and has had the blessing and privilege of serving as a biological mother, stepmother, foster parent, and legal guardian.

As the daughter of a deceased military veteran and someone who frequently served in caregiving roles, Caren has gained extensive exposure and trauma-informed understanding related to PTSD, PTS, moral injury, caregiving, resilience, and recovery.

Drawing from both personal and professional experiences – including surviving polytrauma and several traumatic brain injuries – she offers a unique perspective grounded in empathy, advocacy, perseverance, and lived understanding that only firsthand knowledge can offer.

Caren’s personal journey through recovery, rebuilding, growth, and transformation from survivor to thriver has shaped her into a resilient advocate who proudly identifies as a “HOPEster,” symbolizing her commitment to spreading hope, positivity, and a listening ear.

Cherry blossoms hold deep personal significance in my journey of recovery, rebuilding, growth, and transformation. They represent life’s changing seasons, the beauty of becoming, and the importance of honoring the space between what was and what is still unfolding.

The Cherry Blossom has a deep personal significance to my own transition process as the founder of Vital Ability LLC.  You can read more about the significance – HERE.
