Throughout her career, Caren has accumulated extensive experience as a healthcare provider, educator, trainer, advocate, and community support professional. She has worked and volunteered within emergency medical services (EMS), healthcare environments, domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy, social services, education, customer service, and nonprofit organizations. Her professional journey has primarily centered around grassroots and mission-driven organizations, where she has served in leadership, management, educational, advocacy, and training roles.
Caren is married and has had the blessing and privilege of serving in the roles of biological mother, stepmother, foster parent, and legal guardian.
As the daughter of a deceased military veteran and someone who frequently served in caregiving roles, Caren has gained extensive exposure and trauma-informed understanding related to PTSD, PTS, moral injury, caregiving, resilience, and recovery.
Drawing from both personal and professional experiences – including surviving polytrauma and several traumatic brain injuries – she offers a unique perspective grounded in empathy, advocacy, perseverance, and lived understanding that only firsthand knowledge can offer.
Caren’s personal journey through recovery, rebuilding, growth, and transformation from survivor to thriver has shaped her into a resilient advocate who proudly identifies as a “HOPEster,” symbolizing her commitment to spreading hope, positivity, and a listening ear.
